An experiment in designing hybrid publications in the browser using the »paged.js« library

Das Projekt ist ein Experiment, das sich mit der Zukunft des Buchdesigns auseinandersetzt und mithilfe der Open-Source-Library »paged.js« neue Gestaltungsansätze im Bereich Web-to-Print verfolgt. Parallel dazu wurde der Katalog auch als E-Book-Version für das Web umgesetzt. Im Rahmen des Projekts wird der wechselseitige Einfluss beider Medien analysiert, mit dem Ziel, eine optimale Übertragung der Inhalte vom Web- ins Printformat zu ermitteln. Zudem geht das Projekt der Frage nach, inwiefern die Verwendung von HTML- und CSS-Code die visuelle Gestaltung einer Publikation beeinflusst. Darüber hinaus wurde untersucht, in welchem Umfang es möglich ist, autonome Printsysteme zu gestalten.

The project is an experiment exploring the future of book design, utilizing the open-source library »paged.js« to pursue new design approaches in the field of web-to-print. Parallel to this, the catalog was also implemented as an e-book version for the web. The project analyzes the mutual influence of both media, with the goal of determining an optimal transfer of content from web to print format. Additionally, it investigates how the use of HTML and CSS code influences the visual design of a publication. Furthermore, it examines the extent to which it is possible to design autonomous print systems.
